Let me be honest for a sec: flat lats are one of my favorite parts of the wedding day. I know they’re not the main event, but the little details — the rings, the invitation, the perfume you picked just for that day? They deserve their moment. If no one helps you plan for them, they’ll be forgotten. (Not on my watch.)
Whether you’re working with a wedding planner in Fort Worth, Dallas, or just trying to get organized, here’s everything you’ll want in your flat lay detail box — plus a few things most couples don’t even think about.
Flat Lay Checklist for Brides
Let’s pack the detail box:
- Invitation suite (invite, RSVP, envelope, details card)
- Your vows (especially if handwritten)
- Wedding rings + a pretty ring box
- Perfume bottle (even if you’re not a perfume girl, it photographs beautifully)
- Jewelry (earrings, bracelet, hairpieces — whatever you’re wearing)
- Shoes (yes, they matter)
- Custom handkerchief or embroidered detail
- Something old, new, borrowed, and blue
- Ribbon or fabric scraps in your wedding colors (for styling!)

For the Groom (don’t worry, I got you too)
- Tie or bowtie
- Cufflinks
- Watch
- Cologne
- Shoes
- His vows or note to you (cue the tears)
- Boutonniere (if it’s delivered early)

Things That Make Flat Lays Look Next Level
- Wax seals or fany stamps
- Extra florals from your florist (ask for leftovers — they make a difference!)
- A ring dish or tray
- Any special details unique to your wedding (custom cocktails? embroidered napkins? toss ’em in!)
Pro Tips (from someone who does this all the time)
- Put everything in one box — literally label it “flat lay details” and give it to your planner or content creator first thing that morning.
- Let your photographer know you want flat lays! Not all of them do this automatically.
- Ask your florist for a few extra blooms or petals. You’ll thank me later.
- If I’m your content creator, you already know I’m capturing this in photo and video — so you’ll have detail shots for Instagram, you wedding reel, and TikTok. You’re welcome.
